Congrats. I did this in my early 20s inside a Roth IRA. Picked the right stock at the right time. Uncle Sam won’t be getting a dime.

OP here. To the husband posters, mine has the same or more than I do in retirement savings. We don't check in much regarding our retirement accounts. We butt heads over finances, so over the years, we've evolved into having a joint checking account, and we own our home as JTWROS, but we keep everything else separate. Our brokerage accounts are even separate. It was a necessary compromise for us.

I think most of us lawyers are bit behind because we lost 3 years of investing in our twenties to law school. The difference between maxing out at 22 and 25/26 is actually quite big when you factor in compoud interest.

I was lucky that my parents advised me to max out my 401k when I started my first job. It was a big leg up.

Early 40s. I've maxed out my 401k every year since I graduated law school, and most years I've had a 3% match. As of last night, I am officially a 401k millionaire (the aggregate of my current 401k plus a rollover IRA just passed a million). Feels good! Thanks for letting me share - I don't have anyone I want to share this news with in the real world.
