IDK. My daughter goes to what is considered a "middle-tier" Fairfax county high school. In her friend group, everyone who applied to VA Tech got in, literally everyone. These are smart, hardworking kids, but not superstars.

Ds wants to be a Physics major/Cs minor.

VT publishes acceptance rate by major. It looks like physics hovers in the 80% range over the last few years with one year having a 95% acceptance rate and 64% acceptance rate last year. Math seems to also have a high acceptance rate and is in the same college, which I think makes for an easy major change. Sorry, you are correct. I meant a probable NMF (since she is a probable NMSF and almost all NMSF become NMF)

I really wouldn’t call VT a safety for anyone. A safety is a school that admits over 80% of applicants. I can’t think of a major even at VT that does that.
