Why would I visit Ward 8? How arbitrary. Plenty of other places I don't go either.

Yes, I'm there pretty regularly for work and to see friends, as well as for my kid's sports.

Navy Yard is now part of Ward 8. Anacostia Park is also very nice. East of the river, its not half as bad as most people think but its also mostly residential with limited amenities so the average person who lives west of the river rarely goes there.

I live in Ward 1 and never even venture to Ward 3. Why would I? It would be like venturing to Arlington.

I go there multiple times a week for work or to meet up with friends or family. I have never lived there but have several family members who have been there for multiple generations. Also since I live in NE and have family in southern MD, we drive through regularly to leave town.

Ward 8 is large and varied, some areas are dicy but others are nice, safe, and mostly residential.

I don't care if people in DC spend time in Ward 8 or not but wow would I like people who never go there to stop using it as part of their arguments regarding crime, education, DC culture, etc. Like if you want to make those arguments, you better actually know the Ward.

Why?

I never lost anything there.

Never by choice I have zero reason to ever be there again. I once had to go to a baseball game at some field over there, and I was honestly afraid for my life. When we got there there were cops and an ambulance at an apartment building by the field and and a murder had happened on that block not too long before that. I fell horribly for the people who have to live there. It was honestly like a whole different world. If we ever have a game there again, I will not take my kids back there.

Other than driving through?

I’ve lived inside the beltway for 25 years. We never spend time in Ward 8 or East of the Anacostia. If anything, we generally stay in N.W.
