Mine got a big Lego set, a board game he wanted, and something he needed for his band instrument. He also invited some friends to the pool to celebrate. We had cake.

I would just do the dinner/cake thing and ask if he wants to invite a friend or two. So, not a party, just a friend joining the family for a nice dinner.

My oldest is turning 16 soon. He doesn’t want anything as a gift and he doesn’t want a party. He knows we will go have dinner with him. Feel like it’s kind of a big birthday, but also going to be mid week so balancing school and sports schedules.

We already spent almost $400 buying him b2s clothes, shoes, and tech supplies just within the last couple weeks. Also went on a family vacation not long ago.

Anyways, just thinking about decorating the house, balloons, take him out to dinner, cake, and give him some ca$h to add to his bank account to buy whatever.

It’s fairly low maintenance for me, but my younger daughter still asks for parties and I guess I’m feeling like I may not be “celebrating” his bday enough.

What are you all getting your 16 year olds and are you doing anything fun?
