Sounds like he didn't ask for help, had an expectation that he didn't express, and is now giving you the silent treatment because you didn't read his mind. Not healthy- this man needs some communication help.


Ya think? I’ve told him this before. He does not change, and we’ve been to therapy

In most situations, probably, but my wife needed to take time off when I had dental work to do childcare I'd normally do.

Which? Sickness? No unless something truly debilitating.

Surgery? Yeah, I am probably home to care for my partner.

If the surgery has him laid up in bed and he needs assistance I’d certainly take the time off. But if he can function and get around I’d go to work and check on him every few hours.

Oral surgery!! Painful but certainly not life threatening. I am doing everything for kids while he rests

How serious was the illness/surgery? If he is physically unable to care for himself or if there are responsibilities with the children that need performing that he would otherwise handle, I would 100% take time off.
