Subject: Any BFA Candidate parents out there?
My 2026 grad is also knee deep in the process but I don’t ask about it here because DCUM would be unhelpful at best and shaming my kid at worst because it’s not engineering or pre-law.

Another vote for college confidential on this one. Lots of discussions of very specific programs and auditions and far broader and more supportive and knowledgeable

Good luck!
This is the place to get all your BFA acting and theater questions answered. A wealth of knowledge and resources. Best wishes!

This is also one area in which College Confidential is better - they have specific forums for this and I found it to be more helpful with a larger range of students for that.
My DS went through the process years ago - it's a lot so good luck!

Yeah, DD wants to double major with Dance so she's applying to BA programs instead of BFA but they all require auditions so same process. This week's task is finishing filming all of her prescreen videos. 1st one is due early Sept if she wants to be able to audition at the early date in the fall instead of waiting until late winter. The amount of extra "stuff" and deadlines that these applications require is headache inducing! I'm pretty sure she's going to end up dropping a few schools off her list simply due to application burnout.

Better to go commiserate with the MT Parents FB group. Doubtful many on here even have a clue what is involved.
I have a kid half into the process. Applying to nonBFA programs/colleges as well and that is my priority for her right now because I think that is a more realistic path for her future. Almost ready to shoot off about 5 applications to "regular" programs.

My 2026 senior is knee deep in the BFA audition process right now. Who's there with me?
And where is everyone's BFA candidate applying to? We're looking at MT programs.
