You will miss out on two excellent principals and many great opportunities. It is a shame to make assumptions about how our own children will fare based on test scores and demographics from other children.
I understand that your children are at Fairfax High School but indeed test scores are a big factor in parents picking a school.
OP, you should not be concerned if it gets rezoned to Chantilly. Your concern (even bigger than if it gets rezoned to Fairfax High) is if your child ends up at Abdullah (or whatever it will be named) High School. I bet that is closer to you than Oakton high.
I am sure that all the schools are fine. However, if you are at Navy or Waples Mill, it is VERY unlikely you would be redistricted to KAA. If you are at Crossfield, you have a chance of being redistricted there. And, I am sure it will be a fine school.

Well, not anymore, but you are correct. They had a great experience from K-12. Somehow, the test scores of other people didn’t impact their experience, opportunities, or post-high school options. Test scores aren’t like crowd-sourced ratings. I guess if the backgrounds of classmates worries you, they might show something, but I question that for a different reason.
If your cohorts are ESOL or the parents are not very educated, it can impact the educational experience is what all the threads here at DCUM are saying. I wonder where the kids with great experiences at Fairfax High went for college.

We don’t know what’s going to happen, but with the property being purchased for the new high school, we might be ok.
I wouldn’t let the school situation determine your move. You could have the same situation in the next place you purchase your house if it’s in fcps.
