How do you know that has anything to do with the current administration? Was your school district threatened with withdrawal of federal funds due to equity initiatives?

Entrance to state college or any college accepting public funds should not be so opaque. What's wrong with going back to test scores and high school coursework with grades to evaluate applicants?

Everyone is assigned a number and submits the above. Minimum acceptable grades and scores are posted on the college website prior to application submission dates. No legacy, no sports bumps.

At least if you're accepted, no one will think you slept your way in there.

No, the premise of the OP's question is flawed. The complaint about DEI wasn't that it held back certain people (though it had this effect). But rather that it elevated some people for immutable characteristics by assuming facts about their backgrounds that may not have been true.

I think this is just a question of perspective. For the brief year or two when DEI was everything, if you were white or Asian or Hispanic, especially a male, it seemed like every job or promotion in Fortune 500 companies or government was fixated on black folks, who were often unqualified or mediocre. So that led to some resentment. Because it wasn't about talent, but only race. Which I get from the black perspective. It's like, duh, welcome to the last 450 years. But it is 2025, and the sense is merit is a better way to do things than race-based hiring preferences.

And people go primal when it comes to livelihoods and their ability to feed their families. So I'm not surprised there was a huge shift among white, asian, and Hispanic men toward Republicans in the last election. Democrats aren't their party. Race-based hiring was garbage in 1825,1925, and 2025. So people will gravitate to organizations and companies that value talent, regardless of racial or ethnic background. And there are tons of great black professionals. But when people get prioritized for things they can't do anything about - race, gender, ethnicity - there's going to be a reaction among the unchosen people.

It's illegal for a reason.

I want real life examples, not hypotheticals like bathrooms in some other county or school system that has nothing to do with you. Real examples of how you (or your white DH) have gotten ahead in your career, your kid has excelled in sports, etc. now that others can be decremented against again.
