OP, one thing I’ve learned from dcum is that some people live with WAY, WAY higher levels of stress and care about germs and contamination than others.
We could argue back and forth about logic and science but ultimately people are just different and make different choices. Row your own boat.
Yes, its a continuum. Both me and my husband grew up with hippie parents, so we are on the very concerned about germs side of the continuum. People I know who camp and hike a lot or spent years in developing countries are even further than us.
I do like DCUM for teaching me about other people's habits. We don't talk often about these things. Like washcloths. etc. It is all interesting to me. But I'm happy with how I live and not judgy about other people.
My grandma found it gross to put cartons on the table. She'd pour milk and juice into a class carafe. Interesting.
