Sorry, I don’t know because my kid is only looking at fairly small schools that definitely don’t do this. I wouldn’t guess if any others do, they would be large universities. Probably more to do with size than private vs public, but the biggest ones are all public.

Thanks for clarifying. Wondering if there are other schools where this may also be the case? Such as Michigan or Pitt or other large state schools? Is it safe to assume that private schools its okay to wait for acceptance first?

It’s not exactly at the same time. You have to submit the application first. Once it’s in, you have access to the housing portal. But yes, there are advantages to doing to right away and not waiting to hear about acceptance. You’re out the $100 deposit if you don’t enroll, though.

I keep seeing references to sign up for housing at UT Austin at the same time you submit the app. Are there any other schools that we should do this with too?
