My kid once had a HS English class which went the whole semester with a series of long term subs, and we never received any communication letting us know that there was a long term sub, what their name/email was, how long they'd be teaching the class, etc. The main teacher's name just remained on Canvas the whole semester, even though she wasn't there at all. We later learned she had initially been on maternity leave and then decided not to return to teaching.

Oh, I meant they don't tend to be announced in the weekly newsletter. When there's been a new teacher, that's been an email message just to the affected classes.

Not our school anymore, but we got a Remind link about a new AP at the school our daughter attended last year. (I need to take myself off their Remind list)

Our ES has a principal letter email for important staff changes. There is a weekly email from each teacher with class specifics and included is usually a PTA weekly blast with info as well as any additional important all school info. Before every early dismissal air day off we get and email and phon e voicemail form principal.

What did you or others do when teachers didn't bother speaking to parents? What grade was kid in?

The principal communicates (he cares about staying in his job). It's the teachers that are hit or miss. Many don't bother or delay / drag out speaking to parents until their child is in grade trouble and it's too late to do anything about it.

The one we received was through email and a link texted- I think Remind. I haven’t gotten a paper letter in a while.

The middle school I was working at last year is very heavy on email and remind messages, almost to the level of overdoing it. I switched schools this year to a HS but the old school still has me on their mailing lists and I get quite a bit of community messages
