I love this book for the first half of it, but once he was in prison, it felt like it was the same story over and over again. And I know Wally Lamb writes really sad books, but I was hoping the ending would be more uplifting. It was all just so sad.

This is one book I’ll only read once.. very sad.

I loved this book. I listened to the audiobook, read by Jeremy Sisto. It was excellent and I felt so many emotions.

No, I got it through the library on Libby. I was surprised how quickly I moved through the waitlist.

I got an advanced reader copy but gave up because reading about trauma didn't put me in a good place.

***spoiler alert***
This was a mostly compelling read but the prison years dragged on for me and touching on social justice issues fell a little flat. I could not empathize with Corby (terrible name) so I wasn’t exactly rooting for the family post release, but the ending itself moved me much more than I would have expected it to.

It's fantastic, as his books always are.

I almost stopped come page 12. I knew his book would involve trauma and sadness as they always do but it was almost too much. I wanted to throw the book across the room. But the payoff is worth it, I'm glad I stuck with it.

The main character's navel gazing and self pity was a bit much sometimes, but overall I liked it.

I started, and then I lost interest. I adore Wally Lamb, but it didn’t have dynamic characters like his other books.
