Thanks all for the validation. I see other families last week and we were the ones so strict so maybe I felt insecure. Thank you

1. She's only 11. She doesn't need Roblox.

2. She is probably too immature to have the conversations you're talking about. The way to handle is to delay.

3. Once she is more ready, leverage PDA. Adults *do* trick kids. Apps *are* designed to hook people, so they spend more time on the screen. Social media platforms *do* collect people's data. Even if you get a VPN, the corporations profit, and become more powerful. Large tech corporations *do* profit from cultural trends that increase anxiety and depression in their products' users. If autonomy is what you're looking for, the answer is to run the other way.

4. She's only 11. She doesn't need Roblox.

I don't let my kids have Roblox and I tell them I'm boycotting it because of their deplorable safety track record. Not any risk specific to my kid that they could outsmart and rebut. Just I'm boycotting.

Ah ok now I follow. I mean, if she doesn't get it yet, I'd just keep restricting til she does. She's still young, and younger still w/ the PDA. I always just tell my PDA teen: "I read and listen to the experts on this topic, and the recommend XYZ." SHe doesn't really have to 'get it' until she has more access to tech, and I wouldn't grant her more access to tech until she gets it. I'm suspecting she'll need time to mature.

She doesn’t need the why, she needs you to block it. She’s too young to understand the dangers. Even a nt 11 yo is too young to understand.

Sometimes they're not going to understand and you both just have to live with it.

Maybe a video or short documentary regarding unsafe online activity? My PDA kids responds better to anyone other than me.

Roblox, of all things? That's one of the most unsafe apps! Get her off that and onto some other substitute activity.

It's really hard! She's 11. We don't have a phone for her, and are very strict on devices. we want to have the conversations on internet safety, especially in game chatrooms like roblox, but her response is "I am smarter than them. They can't get me". and it gets NOWHERE. Any tips?
