Hi! I’ve been missing your teeth since middle school and lost a fifth tooth in my 30s. It’s not ideal but it’s ok. 3 of them are implants and I get compliments on my teeth sometimes from people who have no clue that they’re fake. I understand your worry but it’s a bit more frequent than you probably realize and there are so many dental advances these days. Give yourself some time and faith that this will work out.

OP here. Yes, I agree that he has been given a lifetime of dental issues to deal with and I'm heartbroken about that. Even though I'm full of regret these things happen and I can't take it back. Just trying to do my best and keep going for the sake of the little man 😔

Yikes. Well he will now have a lifetime of dental issues to deal with. I doubt those teeth are going to do well. Implants will probably be in his future so start saving up for them.

My four front teeth got messed up at the same age. I even remember my mom saying they had just come in! Anyway, had several root canals as child then those failed end of high school and I got implants. 20 years later two of those failed and got replaced.

I know all of that sounds bad and like a lot but tbh, although it’s a pain when things come up this has been going on since I was a tween (I’m now past 50) and other than in the first six months after the accident things have been mostly fine except for the few episodes where things have completely sucked for like a week. Cosmetically they look completely okay.

Love for you, OP. This is a rough deal for the parent(s). Probably much less so for your kid. Kids bounce back. You're doing a great job, and you'll all get through this!

This happened to me at roughly the same age, which was more than 50 years ago. Ultimately I lost the teeth and in my early 30s had my four front teeth replaced with implants, crowns/veneers. It all worked out, really.

Wow, thank you so much for all these success stories. My son is having a calcium hydroxide dressing in his root canals followed by full root canals. It would be helpful if you knew the details of the treatment your friends/relatives/yourselves received.

It's been a very tough few weeks for me - the teeth that were supposed to last his whole life barely made it two years. So any and all treatment details are very welcome.

My friend had this happen when we were 12 and we're close to 40 now and she still has the teeth. They are very slightly different in color but I don't know that I would notice if I didn't know.

I had this at 14. Teeth went back in quickly but about 2 months later needed root canals in all of them. It’s been a pain that seems to pop up every 8 years or so. Now have a bridge and veneers on those teeth

My brother had a similar accident at the same age – fully knocked out his 4 front teeth and they were put back in by our family dentist late on a Saturday night because we lived way out in the country and options were limited. My parents were given the same poor prognosis. He's now 47 and his teeth are still intact and still shiny and white.

DS, almost 9, fell off his bike a few weeks ago and had two permanent front teeth fall out of his mouth and the third was shaken but didn't come out. The teeth were out of his mouth for 2 hours before being put back in. I'm very upset and we are following the treatment protocol with the endodontist. I realize the prognosis is poor, but I would love to hear any and all experiences, good and bad, with knocked out (avulsed) permanent teeth in a child so young. Thank you.
