How much is inspection? Do they all charge the same fee?

Thanks. I wish Maryland did that. And I wish yo could get it reinspected at another place! Apparently you have to take it back to the same place. It seems rife for scams.

I used to live in a state that prohibited the same business that did the inspection from doing the repairs if a car failed the inspection. That seems like a common sense protection. Maybe take the car to a different place than the one you’d choose for repairs and let them know that you’re only having them do the inspection to make sure you get an honest assessment and any repairs will be done elsewhere.

I took it to a dealer already, for its 5k checkup, but that was in another state.

Yep it’s an Acura. Car was fine. They have a windshield shop on site and said it failed for small chip that we had sealed on the move out…right below the rear view mirror. Little did I know the ez pass would’ve covered it up.

If a car is still under warranty, dealer is a safe bet. At most they would say you need new wipers. If out of warranty, dealer is one of the worst places as they are likely to find all kind of “issues” that need to be corrected.

Hi, I am potentially transferring a family car owned by someone in another state to another person in the family who lives in MD, and thus I think I need to get the car inspected by MD, no?

I, and the car, am in Montgomery County. Any places that anyone would recommend or not recommend?

I'm concerned because when I googled this, all these posts popped up about inspectors ripping them off so they could charge repair fees.

I just took it to the dealer and the dealer did not find anything wrong with it, inspection wise.
