Why is it so bad to flirt? I like mild flirting, but have never cheated on my husband, and would never do so. It's just making some fun conversation with an attractive person and moving on.

He's flirting, but as long as that is all it is, I would not be particularly upset.

+1. Flirting with other women is very disrespectful to your spouse. DH does this sometimes and I just walk away. He’ll ask where I went, and I say I didn’t want to interrupt your conversation with the woman you were speaking with. I’ve left the table at a restaurant and got in my car to drive away. Then he gets it.

What he doesn’t understand is that these women generally don’t want to talk to him. But he can’t see it. Men are so stupid sometimes.

Would he chat up a man if the man had a cute dog? If the answer is yes, then it's not weird. If the answer is no, I'd point that out to him.

I’m in my 50s and not hot, so I don’t know how an attractive woman in her 20s would interpret it, but I love talking about my dog and know that dog lovers enjoy meeting new dogs. When men stop and ask me questions about my dog and pet him, I don’t interpret it as their showing interest in me. Women do it even more often. My dog has literally been kissed by numerous strangers. I also compliment other people’s dogs and I mean it sincerely; I’m not trying to ingratiate myself with them.

My dog has made friends with some other dogs in the neighborhood that we run into often, and the married men walking those dogs chat with me for a minute or two while the dogs sniff each other and then we go our separate ways. Most of us know the dogs’ names, but not their humans’ names!

No, it's fine. The posters who think anyone nice is flirting with them are delusional. That is a very common problem on DCUM. There are so many threads about what constitutes flirting, and some of the responses are... insanely optimistic? Arrogant? Self-serving? I don't quite know how to phrase it.

I think it's fine. I have a dog that's gets LOADS of attention, from everyone really but definitely some married men. Unless he's asking for their number or something, this is harmless. Dog guy being a dog guy.

Yes, you are crazy. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. No harm even if your DH finds the dog owner attractive or fun to talk to. Don't you think he can control himself or does he have to move to a muslim country where women are covered from head to toe?
