Alas Babylon by Pat Frank
This was recently recommended by the NYT
“One of the early post-nuclear apocalypse tales, Frank’s Cold War novel follows a small Florida town that miraculously survives a nuclear holocaust that destroys much of the United States. Cut off from the world, which is in the throes of a continuing war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, the town’s residents struggle to retain social order as they find their way”

The Passage - it's a trilogy. There's also one season of a show that was done with Mark Paul Gosselaar and I enjoyed it - he was great and it was interesting to see the creatures live.

Any good zombie/ and or apocalypse novels to recommend? Not bloody or gross, but plot-driven novels that happen to be set in a zombie apocalypse or regular ol' apocalypse? TIA
