HR does not care. They made an absolutely massive mistake on my paperwork and were like “chill why do you care?”

The early departure also was offered to HR folks who process that type of paperwork. So they likely also are short staffed. It likely will take a while.

Trump has turned us into a 3rd world nation. No order, accountability, process, central govt corruption everywhere.

is going to be real fun when we shut down for the debt ceiling or just budget and all the FORK folks counting on getting their vacation payout are left with no money coming in and no one to contact about paperwork/unemployment.

Getting paid from the Feds after a RIF or even retirement has always been 6+ months after their estimated dates. OPM made an attempt in the late aughts where they tried to improve the average retirement pay processing to be about 6 months post last day. They gave up after a few years.

I figured chaos would ensue so I cashed out both our Treasury Direct accounts while the getting out was good. I bond rates were low anyhow.

Maybe some HR staff also were laid off, so now maybe HR are understaffed.

Sorry to hear this. You’re in for many calls to your agency, long wait times, and lots of excuses from HR (if you actually get to talk to someone). It’s infuriating.

I've voluntarily left federal jobs twice and both times it took lots of paperwork. Did you have time to fill all that out? if it's not filled out correctly, they don't pay you out your vacation, is my understanding.

I'm sorry. The hits keep coming. You deserve better. Thank you for your service to the American people.

There are probably fewer people available to do the RIF paperwork. That being said, when I was a fed (before this fiasco), trying to get my money from the government took 2-3x as long as it should have.
