Boomers do this too. We don’t care about uncle Ed daughter’s best friend who got into UVA on scholarship or that one guy we met on a vacation once who just died. Stop telling us about people we don’t know.

+1 I know someone like this and it’s very obviously anxiety. No judgment, I also have anxiety but internalize everything so we’re opposites.

Ha! My boomer mom is like this. When I do change the topic from her favorite subject- herself - she ignore me and turns it right back on herself. It must be so lonely.

No, typically they are not at all aware of how annoying they are. They are either so self-absorbed that they don't notice or care, or there is a screw loose somewhere and they have no sense of how to interact with other people.

You need a strong moderator in your group. Can you speak up and ask for that?


Agree.
Take the bull by the horns and interrupt her and say "I'd like to hear what Jane thinks", "Phil, do you have any thoughts on the matter"..... I mean if she's rude enough to take all the air in the room it would be a relief to others if you can grab it back.
