The author introduced these trips as dream trips for people on a budget and includes tips to make them less expensive. It's not presented like these are cheap, more like if this is your dream, here's how it might be more doable.

All the destinations in the article really are true LC vacations. I am surprised they left out Ocean City and most of DELMARVA to be honest.

I know DCUM looks down on OBX, but I used to love it, but have also been priced out. Homes are over 10k for a week and like Disney, can’t justify the price. Also, OBX is a lot of work with regard to getting house, stocking the house, cleaning it…etc. Hotels are so much easier.

Not finding a particular vacation destination to be worth the cost is not the same as being priced out.

300k is smoke beans in NOVA. That is like making $40k in Arkansas.

The only way to do "Orlando" correctly is to never go there.

hahaha right? The "vacations" that people post about here always make me giggle and cringe. I'm glad I'm not going on those trips they plan.

These do not seem like LMC vacations to me. My family makes 300k, and we live around people who make more than us, and places like the Outer Banks, Niagara Falls, cabins in the mountain, etc. are normal MC to UMC destinations. Now I’m sure at a higher income the house rental gets a bit nicer or you’re staying on property at Disney vs. a cheaper offsite hotel. But I still don’t think that is LMC.

I think LMC is a cross country road trip to see family or an overnight trip to somewhere with a Six Flags. And FWIW I would never laugh at this. I think it’s great when families try to use the resources they have to travel even it’s not fancy.

There are parts of OBX that definitely don't belong on that list, and parts that decidedly do.
