i believe ours is a Vent a Hood model. We had cabinet maker make the shroud flush with the bottom of the other cabinets. Local metal shop fabricated a SS liner for the the interior the cabinet that tied into the hood assembly assembly. The actual hood assembly is about 10-12" from the bottom of the cabinet face. The liner can be easily removed for cleaning.

The inspector didn't even ask if we installed the air intake. Maybe we got lucky? Anyway, I think you will regret installing a weak hood.

Oh I've heard about this brand. Do you like it? Is it quiet? Any downsides?

You might want to check out Fotile. I recently installed the slanted version and have really liked it. It is fairly quiet. I remember this model being very easy to clean when I reached and I'm sure you can easily find a video on it. There is a showroom in Rockville and they can handle all the installation.

Is 300 CFM enough? We rarely deep fry or make pasta, it's mostly sauteeing, searing small amounts of meat for stiry fry, (large amounts of meat go on the grill), bolognese, chili, that type of thing.

Complete kitchen renovation, new duct to vent outside.

You'll probably be looking at something like a Faber Inca Pro-plus.

Actually looks like Build.com calls them "inserts." I basically don't want the hood to be visible at all.

Looking for an under-cabinet range hood (I guess they also call them integrated hoods). We have a 5 burner Bosch gas stove, though we never use more than 3 burners at a time, and mostly it's just 2. We don't want to deal with the air replacement issue, so are ok to stay under 400 CFM. QUIET and DISWASHER SAFE FILTERS matters to us most. I'm overwhelmed by the options and the can't find a good place to compare them, especially by noise level. Thanks
