To ‘dress’ the Mah Jong modular sofa, Takada took inspiration from ancient kimonos used in the Noh Theatre, re-interpreting their patterns and colors to create fine and sophisticated harmonies symbolizing the 3 times of the day: Asa (morning), Hiru (midday), Yoru (evening).

Description
Sofa customizable by individual pieces upholstered in fabrics designed by Kenzo Takada from the No Gaku collection. Modular system with endless combinations due to it's seat cushions (L.95 x D.95 x H.19 cm) and straight and corner backs (H.53 cm). All elements are padded and stitched by hand. Optional adjustable backs with manual mechanism, and small cushions available. Hand-made stitching in white wax thread.

All the wealthy houses and apartments in eastern Europe are furnished like this. I have seen many a gold claw foot tub, over the top gold leaf on every surface, so much marble/granite/mosaic. Lighting fixtures made from Murano glass. A purple granite curved fireplace surround. The furnishings are either extremely modern or Louis XIV.

The new build upscale apartment complex had this lamp shown in its sales materials but I guess they were too cheap to buy it. My DH and I can't stop laughing every time we think about it. One showed up at an NYC upscale thrift shop for a cheap price since we first heard of it.

I had a hard time comprehending the size. In the photos it looks like a serving dish. But you can tell it's the size of a bathtub in the video.

I cannot find a picture, but I once visited a house where the sofa (which was velvet) was S-curved so that half faced the opposite side of the room.
