Capital ABA LLC. Check them out the owner will link you up with BCBAs that are available in home or in school (if they allow). I would only hire a BCBA and one that comes to your home or school. We love our BCBA!

Nobody specific but ask them during the interview if they’ve read Equivalence Relations and Behavior by Murray Sidman as well as Science and Human Behavior by Skinner. If they’ve studied both I’d assume they have a solid educational background.

We did/could not private pay (30 hours of therapy for DS plus parent training and treatment plan development/revision plus BCBA supervision 2-3x a week was simply not in our budget!)

But we had a fairly good experience for 20 months with in-home ABA services through Behavioral Framework (BF). We really only stopped because insurance dropped BF as an in-network provider and the new provider identified was never able to find us a qualified RBT. By that point I knew what to look for in the RBT (professional experience working with HFA kiddos not just family member has ASD). You should realize pretty quickly if the RBT is not suitable and then ask for a re-staff- with BF we had 3 amazing RBTs and 2-3 ones who just couldn’t do the work needed with our DS.

It helps that you’re private pay, many good ones don’t take insurance. I’d lean towards home based at age 7 but you do whatever works best for your situation.

I’d start with a BCBA search, look for some with an early original certification date, and just email a few.

Some states also have LBA designations you might search
separately for as well.

Looking for ABA recommendations located in or near Capitol Hill or northern VA. I'm set on pursuing ABA, so I'm not looking for a debate about the approach -- just looking for reports of positive experiences and recommendations for good practices or ones to stay away from! Thanks!
