Did the results from the psych-ed change your child’s placement in a certificate program? What was the result of the testing?

If it doesn’t change your child’s academic placement, really consider whether it is worth due process with the county. It will be hard to fight that their testing was not accurate. If you have the money to fight, just use that money instead on your own testing. It will be more thorough and can still be used in IEP meetings.

You need to be able to defend why it’s bad. Are you asking them to pay or you have financial means?

Did they really do a full neuropsych?? Or just a psycho-ed?

I only have experience in DCPS, but it's likely similar. IDEA says that if parents request an IEE, the school system either need to agree or file due process to defend their evaluations. MCPS has decided on the latter. You'll need someone (preferably an expert) to explain to the hearing officer why their evaluation is inaccurate/inappropriate. Honestly, it might be cheaper/easier for you to get the outside evaluation yourself.

This year, I felt quite pressured by my child's school team to agree to a neuropsych - they stated that it was better to write my child's goals for middle school. My child is on a certificate track and in a self-contained class. MCPS neuropsych was a disaster. I wrote a letter asking for an independent one or for it to be removed from my child's file. MCPS is now demanding due process - any advice about this from people who went through something similar? Thank you!
