Every company makes jammers made from a variety of fabrics that vary in durability, so don’t pay attention when people say, “Tyr always falls apart” etc. You are looking for no spandex, Lycra, or nylon in the fabric, just polyester (best) or polyester/PBT mix (next best). I like Speedo endurance jammers - I have kids who swim 8 times a week, and the suits have lasted for over 2 years without fading, or tears, and minimal stretching even with accidental trips to the dryer. Other 100% polyester jammers, like arena maxlife, Tyr durafast, or sporti hydralast are fine as well. PBT is a type of polyester.

Nylon, Lycra, and spandex fibers will eventually break, causing a saggy suit or splits in the fabric. Before I knew about polyester, I bought speedo pro lt suits, which only lasted 4-5 months before the fabric thinned at the seams due to the 15% spandex.

We like speedo jammers. Try and arena are good too. Each fit differently. I put our jammers in a mesh bag with regular wash no issue but we have a lot to rotate through and hang dry. Swim kids wear jammers. There is a swim store in Kensington. Try a better cap. Silicone.

If he hates tight clothing, I'm not sure what suggestions we could possibly provide here.

I'd say you just need to explain to the teacher that tight suits and caps are out for now and he should be able to continue as is. Some suits are more baggy than others so you possibly could look for something that is more fitting.

At the end of the day, your son is who he is and you'll need to meet him where he is, not where you wish he was.

Go to a swim store and get him fitted. Any decent jammer (TYR, Speedo, Arena, etc) whill go by numeric number (26, 28, 30, etc) vs S/M/L.

Tell us where you are (generally) located and we can tell you a swim store to go to. I recommend getting 2 unless he is only swimming 1x/week.

Go with Tyr brand, we tried Speedo but it’s like tearing up less than a year, once a week usage. Hand wash cold with very gentle squeeze and hang to dry, not under sun directly.
