Terrible advice. Not everyone can afford a second home AND with a pool. Don't you have College to pay at 18 and 20?

Ditto for us. Plus it’s really easy to order food.

We went something like 15 years without taking an adult only trip. We had a wonderful time and while I missed my children it was like we were on our honeymoon again.

My kids are a bit older, but only one was able to come. the other ones already took PTO, so they won't able to come in. We still have a 11 year old at least we still have a times with him.

Can you pull a weekend trip together for the four of you before they go back to school?

PP who does weekend getaways with adult kids. We did this and it is a great way to increase family time.

Well…at 18 & 20, it’s hard to know where everyone will end up living.

OP, we have started moving our family vacation to over XMas break since it’s a more reliable time for everyone to be together.

If you have kids in college, you can now travel first week of January which is much cheaper than the week of XMas.

My DDs are the same ages, 18 & 20. We are going on a cruise this year and I am thinking it might be the last for a while. I lucked out when I booked it that it fit with their college start dates.

We’ve gotten to the point where we try to do weekend getaways. It’s too hard to get five people with busy lives on the same schedule. And honestly we often count it as a win when we are all together for dinner. Our last family vacation was two years ago and it would be nice to do it again but I don’t see it happening in the near future. I miss it but I think the Covid interruption of family life as we knew it softened the blow for us.

They’ll come back.

Same. And same ages. So sad.

This is the first year we aren’t going away together. Kids are 18&20.
They are both with friends on separate beach trips.
Just feel kinda sad.
