I bought a truck with a rebuilt title 13 years ago and never had any real problems out of it, I still use it as a second vehicle.

If you’re looking for a classic or specialty vehicle, a salvage title is pretty common. On some cases it’s the only option.

Anyone who knows cars isn’t put off by a salvage title. But if it’s for a daily driver, insurance can be more complicated in certain cases.

Insurance other than liability can be tricky with a rebuilt title.

Depends on the vehicle. Too many variables tell.

A $5000 100K mileage great vehicle may be a steal with a refurb or salvaged title.

Because of the cost of repairs these days most any vehicle under $10,000 could be "totaled" in even a minor accident.

They are quick to total older cars as its not worth the cost to repair vs. the value but if its a newer car, if it was totaled the damage has to be pretty band and almost as much or more to fix it per insurance standards.

+1 steer clear unless you are a skilled mechanic but you wouldn’t be asking the question if you were

Maybe you mean “rebuilt” title? That means car was previously declared a total loss.

If you’re gonna buy a car with that title you REALLY better do your homework on it. Sometimes the damage isn’t critical but most of the time it is. The car should be at a hefty discount if you purchase. Plus you should verify that your insurance will provide coverage.

would you consider buying a used car that says it has refurbished title? Seems to be a lot less expensive and I assume there has to be some checks they do to give the title in the first place. Has anyone done this? Would love to hear your thoughts.
