OK, Karen.

That was Debbie, not Karen.

I would not do it.

But it depends on your threshold for sitting in an airplane for a zillion hours and how much you enjoy Australia.

In my 20s I would drive 5 hours to see friends on a Saturday and drive another 5 hours back home on Sunday which is kind of crazy now that I'm in my 50s But I really wanted to go so I went.

Go if you want.

I have done that for work. Well, work paid for me to go there, spend 3 days hanging out and fly back with something important. It was fun, but I was in my late 20s and of course flew business. I dont think I'd do it now, given the toll of that kind of travel at middle age. I would do it for a week though--maybe half sydney and half melbourne.

Hell no. I would not spend 48 hr traveling to a place to spend 4 days there. But if it is worth it to you then go.

No interest at all in that kind of trip!

We have done it if that means 4 nights or 4 full days. DH had work trip and I went along. Sydney is excellent for short stays. Just keep moving after you arrive early AM... Try to stay up until 9 pm. If you can get into your hotel room in the morning or use a spa there to shower even better.
Sydney combines The Rocks, art museums, history, ferry rides, beaches....

No. I wouldn’t do that kind of travel time for 4 days — unless it was for something like a wedding or a funeral where my presence truly mattered. I’m not a good traveler, and dislike flying. If Day 1 is arrival, I’d probably sleep through much of Day 2. If Day 4 is departure, I’d be packing up the night of Day 3. So that leaves maybe 2-ish days for exploring and enjoying. For me, that wouldn’t be worth what would be an arduous flight. Even if the 4 days isn’t including the arrival and departure days, I still wouldn’t do it without a very major reason where my absence would be deeply felt.

It will take you 2 to get over the jet lag.

I would do it if it were for a specific reason (wedding, child studying abroad and it is the only time we can make work, elderly friends/family to see, etc.)

If not, I would choose somewhere closer.

No. If you've been there before, why bother to go for four days?

Go somewhere else you can enjoy more and travel less

Do the four days include day of arrival and day of departure?

No. Go somewhere new and different and with less travel time.

I have an opportunity to do it. Already have time off work. No kids or other responsibilities.

I've been to Australia before so I'm not as pressed to see all the things.

Would you do it?
