Yeah that sounds great in theory but when the parents start complaining to the coaches about why their kid never gets to play then it becomes a massive problem.
So have JV, not yet JV (whatever name you want to call it) or Team A Team B and Team C which play with their counterpart teams at other high schools. If Gaithersburg HS doesn't have a Team B, but Quince Orchard does, that week Team B doesn't play or they can sub for a player in Team A.

They already do that where it makes sense. Where it doesn't, a line is drawn and everyone moves on once the decisions are made. That's a valuable life lesson right there. Michael Jordan was cut from varsity as a sophomore so there's that.
No they do not where it makes sense. There are some sports and at some schools where they make cuts. Every kid should be allowed to play. Not everyone has the resources like Larlo's family, ok?!
Any maybe every kid should be in the school play and in the orchestra and chorus . . .
