Huh? this is just a weird trend for both genders. I don't think anyone is doing it to titillate anyone. (one might question why you think its titillating at all)

It's kind of gross that athletes handle their mouthguards during the game. Their hands are repeatedly touching the ground/ball. It's gross.

The ring on the mouthguard is way more sanitary.
