I’d take the check, buy a junkyard door, have it painted to match, and put it on myself.

Subarus are not reliable in the long term. we’ve had Outback and Forester. These are some major problems we noticed around 70k miles:
Transmission making grinding noises
Engine burning oil
Malfunctioning airbag lights
Rip in the leather seats
Battery died early due to auto stop/start feature

I would probably look for a new car at this point. You’ve gotten plenty of value out of that car.

Actually Subaru is more reliable than Toyota now. Most of us have long memories of 90’s and 00’s Toyota that would run forever. Modern Toyota reliability is very model dependent and really need more reliable maintenance.

That said, Subaru value drops off dramatically after 100k miles. There is a $2k engine maintenance at 80k miles.

I would trade the car in while it has some value. We traded our 2019 Forester in for a 2025. Much better vehicle.

Op, I would trade your Subaru in for New Camry. It is hybrid by default and it’s a great commuter car.

Your post doesn’t make much sense. You can’t trade in a car with a damaged body. Might as well sell it to a junk yard for a few hundred bucks

Get rid of it. I had a 18 legacy that I lemoned.

Mileage is around 60k

We have an outback 2018 sport that got hit in an accident which crushed a door badly. This is our commuter car and I wonder if we should just take this opportunity to trade it in for a hybrid car to save gas like a Mazda cx 50. We’ve never loved it it’s always had a small oil leak and the screen has always been glitchy, plus all the safety features are too annoying. Our other car is a Toyota Sienna minivan (3 kids). We have cash on hand 50k.
