You’re running for 30 minutes. Unless you’re running sub 5 minutes miles you don’t need anything for muscle repair and recovery.


1/10 troll attempt there. Everyone has constant muscle repair needs, and exercising when older requires more recovery effort.

Couple of boiled eggs for a night snack will fix you up OP.


OP doesn’t need any more nutrition. A competitive middle aged runner OPs age would consider her run a recovery effort.

OP just needs to rest and hydrate. There is no need to validate workout effort with additional “fueling” at OPs level.

I’m not hungry after running and am wary of eating late at night. But would I lose more weight if I eat a piece of cheese and a few nuts after my evening run? Does it matter how intense the run is? Some nights I do a 30 minute jog and some nights I do interval runs.


The only reason you eat frequently is to boost anabolism and muscle gain. If all you do is run, then intermittent daily fasting of 12 hours is fine without eating.

You could even skip breakfast, or eat something small like a boiled egg and glass of milk if you aren't that hungry.

You would not lose more weight if you ate food after you run. But is your question really, should you eat after running at to help with recovery? Are you running every night? Is it important that your running improves? What are your true goals here? Losing weight? If so, definitely do eat more. If it's to improve your running, that might be a bit more complicated.

So hydrate and stretch (especially with a stretch band).

You don't need to gobble down nuts, cheese, and other stuff especially when Op isn't hungry and bedtime is around the corner.
And OP will negate any calorie burning she just achieved from her workout.
