Since when did people go to business school expecting learning? If they wanted to be intellectually engaged, they should have considered getting a degree in a real discipline.

People who go out of their way to demonstrate their own ignorance always surprise me.

Academic teaching is slow to respond to changes in the marketplace. That's always been the case.

But, I do think many universities rest on the name brand recognition rather than the academics itself.

Part of the reason why polytechnics are great is because both the faculty and students are expected to deal with real world situations.

I don't think Stanford GSB is reflective of all B schools, though, but I do think Stanford has changed a lot in the past 20 years. Even for CS/Eng majors Stanford is no longer about creative thinking but more about how many startup entrepreneurs it can produce.

I've worked in private equity and know many people that went to business school at Harvard and GSB. It's mainly networking. I was incredulous at the number of global trips that took place. Seemed like that was the draw.

I’m OP. The blog is very well-known. I just want to hear other people’s reactions if they think biz school is worth it. I’m starting to think not, even for making connections. A lot of Harvard biz students are not getting jobs. I think this is the new normal.

Poets and quants is a very well known site for MBA info.

I have an MBA from a TT school. As one entering with a finance background, I will admit that I didn’t learn a ton. It was more credentialing and networking. I joked that if you had half the classes do academics and half hang out and socialize, they would end up in largely the same place. It was a great two years to reset, have fun and meet awesome people.

I went 20+ years ago so the cost was lower. Not sure if I would do it again.

DP but its a pretty long running and well-known blog in the business school world.
