Ask the school counselors for their official transcript. At least at my kid’s FCPS school there is a two or three week delay in that process. The earliest school they applied to last year was Auburn, which the first round of early action deadline was Sept 15. My kid didn’t ask the counselor for the transcript until Sept 1 and almost didn’t get it in time.

Start a spreadsheet of the colleges they are interested with ED/EA dates, cost, whether they give merit/FA aid, CDS stats (SAT, GPA, acceptance rates, etc..). It helps to see which schools are a target, reach, safety.
