Did you give a deadline?

I have someone in a different team who asked me to look over something (basically redo it/ fix it because they are fine with mediocre work).

I acknowledged but have my own work to do! Was not given any kind of date where they wanted it by. Then they sent a snarky email saying they asked me X times and bcc’d HR.

It isn’t my job to do / fix their work. I have been doing this for awhile and keep getting roped into this departments work. I replied gave bullet points but asked for a due date as I wasn’t given one and reminded them my first priority is my work not theirs. My boss told me just to reply “no” next time and reminded me that by helping before it looked like they could do good work so to stop helping them.

So I wouldn’t be snarky. I would give a due date and then see jf they reply. People are busy and have their own work to finish.

I work on a team with some people high up the chain who keep dropping the ball when it comes to completing projects. One of them I report to but they never respond to requests. This person also has been putting tasks on my desk that are really another manager’s problem.

A few things are now falling behind because they both ignore requests or are on work travel or randomly call in sick a lot. I know how to get things done, but I also know if I try to handle something, I’ll be accused of stepping out of my lane because I’m not a manager. I feel as if they want me to do things but do not want to actually delegate to me on paper or change my title/level.

Another manager who could help is near retirement and just doesn’t care, also drops the ball. Their lack of attention to projects and due dates is not my fault. How do I gently remind them of this?
