I would highly recommend it. My dc is a rising senior and of the people they met during summer bridge are still their good friends years later. It’s a chance to get acquainted with the school while it is mostly empty. It’s mostly social (at least for the VA department) so there won’t be much “work”. It also gave DC a chance to practice taking public transportation without the added pressure of actual school.

If it's anything like other DCPS "bridge" programs, it's a good opportunity to get your kid acquainted with the academic program. Kind of a light summer school.

I am hugely relieved to say that my child was accepted to Duke Ellington this coming year. (We literally spent more time with high school applications than me and my spouse did for our law school applications.)

We received an email about an optional bridge program for a few short days next month — I’m guessing this is a type of orientation?
