Taste is great. Fast casual, really good salads.

Taste (the Shore Drive location)

Dockside for seafood

Surfrider also for seafood

I would avoid anywhere on the boardwalk.

Try Commune in the “ViBe” district. There are other good coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants around there, a few blocks from the oceanfront.

Tautog’s is pretty good.

Taste is a local institution. I personally think it’s overrated, but people love their sandwiches and salads.

Most places have a fresh catch of the day or other seafood options (grilled shrimp for example).

We are spending a couple of days in VA Beach after several other stops on our summer vacation. I’m getting a little tired of fried food by this point of our vacation - I know… not the best time to arrive in VA beach - so am looking for ideas of restaurants that might be known more for salads, fresh food, etc. in any cuisine. I’ve googled this but there are so many restaurants, it’s hard to cull out any since I’ve never been to the area. We are staying on the oceanfront around 12th Ave. thanks.
