Should add - this is not walkable but you get a lot of space for the money compared to where I live in Alexandria

Shirlington/Fairlington. However, if you are going to have an additional child you will likely quickly outgrow Fairlington.

we’ve been house hunting for ~6 months in Maryland thinking DH would be working in DC. It now looks like he’ll be working in Alexandria.

What areas would you be looking to live in with an under 1 hour commute to Alexandria with an $800k budget, 3 (ideally 4) bedrooms, 2 baths, town home or SFH? We’d love somewhere with some walkability to shops & restaurants but not a deal breaker. We do have a toddler so would like decent schools but aren’t opposed to private in the future either.
