Judgy? Nothing the kid preferring Venice over Geneva. Some adults were too. And you misinterpreted the PP regarding the sophisticated comment – they said the opposite to what you thought.

Zurich was boring. I also found Lucerne boring unless you like lakes. Absolutely loved the mountain region around Wengen, Murren, etc. Could have stayed there more than the 5 days we did.

Zurich is 2 days, not 7-10. Then go stay in Wengen for 5 nights and do all the nature stuff but only if you like outdoorsey stuff. Then two nights in Luzern to end the trip. Done.

The scenery is spectacular (hiking in the alps), not the cities. I would not spend long in Zurich.

Not just your kids, my friend's kid, also 14, loved Switzerland and did not like the cultural history of Italy. She thought it was boring after the first church and all churches looked the same to her.

You couldn’t be more wrong about those cities. There’s so much for kids to do in each one of them, not just scenery and art museums.

I wouldn't spend a week in either city. Spend your time in the mountains or around Lac Lucerne.

Just spent a week in skiing in Zermatt this winter and definitely not bored. Poorer, but not bored.

It's beautiful with a lot of wonderful hiking and some very picturesque areas. I would not want to spend a ton of time in Geneva itself, but there's lots to do as day trips out of the city, and it will be nice to have a city base because there's good food, beer gardens, playgrounds in Geneva. Though it's not a spectacular sightseeing city so after a couple days you'll want to venture outside the city.

We would be in Geneva or Zurich for 7-10 days. Kids are 7, 11, 15.
