I have a child who has been to diving all-stars several times (MCDL). I don't recall any patches. Just bag tags (I think?) and you can buy a t-shirt that has everyone's name on the back. Also, there aren't really alternates. Top three from each group in Divisionals goes. If someone can't go, then the 4th goes (an alternate) - but then they're just an all-stars diver. There isn't any real distinction once the roster is set.
