My 11 year old did dryland a couple times a week and enjoyed it. It looked like a mix of older and younger kids.

My 10 yo did dryland, but it was mostly older kids so he only did it once or twice.

We have friends at QO and I can see that their kids improved significantly after one year. The biggest complain I heard so far is the cost.

I'm the JFD/QO poster. Just adding that you may have luck with RMSC minis. Much easier to get into at 6 than at 8-9.

QO coaches will correct strokes during practice. I've been on deck at meets and seen the coaches also talk kids through DQs or how to improve next time.

What kind of significant improvement is typical at QO after one year?

Legal in all 4 strokes and IM. Time drops compared to last summer. No more DQs. Not swimming in A meets but they're much happier with their results compared to the last couple years of just swimming in the summer. This is after one year. They've also made friends and they don't complain about going to practice. One of my kids had a health issue last year and they were very flexible about scheduling makeups.

Do they correct strokes frequently during practice?

I don't closely watch the practices, but I have noticed them correcting strokes.

Anonymous wrote:QO is definitely MUCH better than JFD was. We had both kids in JFD. One moved on to another team, the other stayed with QO and we were pleasantly surprised with the changes they made.

It's definitely less intense than others like RMSC, NCAP, etc. but their coaches are great and swimmers can learn a lot there.

Original poster here, very helpful take and sounds like what we are looking for.

It used to be called Joe Flaherty's Dolphins but he retired so the name changed, basically. I have one kid in RMSC (who was in JFD before) and others in QOSA. The coaching and camaraderie is good. It's just not as "elite" as RMSC (and more expensive since it's private). But your kid will definitely learn there.

Hello,
I am looking for experiences with QO swim academy’s competitive team. I know they are a newer team so it’s hard to find information.

My 6 year old was offered a spot in their minis group. I just want somewhere that she will continue learning and growing in the sport. She wants to do “meets.” She is also going to try for RMSC minis but I know it’s very hard to get in.

Thanks for any responses!
