We were there in June and we used Viator to book our charter. It’s easy to find the ones that are reputable because they all have five stars, recent reviews and hundreds/thousands of people who have rated them. That being said I would not do a charter if you intend to spend the majority of your time on island. It’s honestly a waste of money to rent a boat all day to spend most of your time on land when you could take a much cheaper ferry over.

+1. Totally agree. Boat to Capri and small or private one to take you around the island. Have lunch, wine on the boat. Swim off the boat. By far one of the best days of our Amalfi trip.

The traffic is horrible. You lose so much time. Definately do the ferry to the small towns.

Path of Gods hike was incredible and easy. Lots of steps down at the end into Positano but it wasn’t hard. Highly recommend.

We did both from Sorrento. We hired a driver for the coast (Amalfi, Positano, Ravello) and went on a small boat charter from Sorrento to Capri. It also went around Capri and stopped so we could swim. We all enjoyed the Capri day much more. It wasn’t even a close call. The traffic around the towns is awful and they’re so crowded. Being on a boat enabled us to take it all in and relax. Also, I thought Capri was much more beautiful than the Amalfi coast towns. I’ve told many people that I would not go back to the Amalfi Coast. I would go back to Capri.

We were on the Amalfi cost in June. We had a driver from Naples to Atrani (where we stayed). We were able to walk easily from there to Amalfi for sightseeing and taking a boat tour of the coast. The bus runs right along the coast and will be much cheaper than a driver. You can get off at various villages along the way.

I just figured out that Capri Sun fruit punch pouches and Capri pants are both probably named after the island of Capri lol

I would skip Capri and go to Ischia.

We didn't have teens but we did both things. If I had to pick one I'd do Capri but on a private boat. You can swim off the boat which is fun. We enjoyed the day on Capri and the boat ride.

Don't rent a car. You can take a bus from Sorrento to various little places. I liked them better than capri when we went. But if the kids are up for it, you can pack a lunch and hike Al around capri if not too hot.

We visited Amalfi Coast two years ago with older teens. We stayed in Amalfi. One of our entire days was spent in Capri. We took ferry from Amalfi to Capri. Other days on coast we either walked or ferried to destinations. Car traffic on coast was very busy. You could use taxi, we were glad to not have rental car.

We going to Italy with two teen boys in October. We’ll have two days in a smaller village near Sorrento.

Should we ferry to Capri or hire a driver to check out the coast? Who has btdt with teens?
