HRT has been proven to have small risks for some women, and proven benefits like better bone health. There’s no simple answer. I’m in peri and on HRT because I was having awful hot flashes without it. Now I sleep better, my shoulder pain has gone away, my skin looks amazing, and my brain fog is gone.

My doc said I absolutely need to stay on it until at least 50 (I had a complete hysterectomy and ovaries removed at 43). It is appropriate more than some realize.

Yes, it is weird how it is being pushed now. I’m guessing it’s probably a money maker for the companies that sell it.

It was flawed but too many women with risk factors were being given HRT. OPs dr sounds like they have screened for those factors.

Stop telling friends your medical information.

If your friend was not a moron and was in fact a scientist you’d have mentioned it. Do you think the women who stay here railing against HRT, who themselves are not physicians nor scientists, and your friend have expertise in anything? I don’t.

Unless your friend happens to have some kind of medical expertise (NOT the Facebook kind) you should trust your doctor over them.

My dr prescribed HRT, I also had genetic screening and don’t have any risk factors.

Thoughts? Am I being reckless for staying on it? I’m still peri
