This. With the exception of the metric rainfall per hour / flash flood - that IS somewhat recent.

Thank you for checking the data. People just love to tell you not to overreact; "it's typical". I do remember the uncharacteristically cool spring we had! That was real too. Usually we jump from winter right into the heat. We had a lovely, long and cooooool spring. I'm grateful for that.

I’ve lived here for 14 years and I free. I don’t know why people have this amnesia about summer here. It’s ALWAYS hot and sticky with an afternoon storm . The one summer I actively recall being vastly different was 2013 because it rained CONSTANTLY. I had a 3 year old and we could never go to the pool. Besides that and the summer with the derecho, none of these summers are outside the norm.


38 years, and I agree as well. Late-June through mid-September are usually horrible. There's a reason for that August recess

Summer in DC has never been comfortable, OP. It's wetter than usual, but it's always crappy from June to Labor Day. September brings some relief, but it's not nice until October.

Ten years ago DC was practically southern California. We had people flocking to the area for the nice weather.

Even since that first Trump presidency the weather has been ruined. Did Trump steal the weather for his golf courses?

Every day is sweltering, sticky, unpleasant. Violent thunder storms daily. Everything feels gross and tropical. So I guess this is the new "no turning back" climate change normal. Sucks.
