No way, Christmas season in Boston is cold but not cold enough for snow.

Yes. The back bay and beacon hill are beautiful and festive decorated for holidays and the shopping and stores are festive. It’s cold but it’s pretty. If it snows it will be extra pretty.

Boston is colder than NYC and with earlier sunsets. Sometimes Boston is 4 degrees colder than NYC and sometimes it's 10 or 15 degrees colder. No way to know.

But on average, in December too, it's measurably colder.

I was up there once for a conference before the holidays. I happened upon their Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which was really charming. Boston sent aid to Halifax, Nova Scotia after a huge explosion in their harbor killed and injured many people back in the early 1900s, and Halifax has been sending them a huge tree in gratitude since the 1970s. There are delegations from both NS and Boston at the ceremony, and it’s just a nice kickoff to the holidays from what I could tell. Yes, it was a bit nippy! I didn’t have a chance to do much else, unfortunately.

I love all things Christmas. In addition to visiting all of the DMV holiday wonders, I typically also go to NYC each year. Now that we’re empty nesters I’m trying to broaden my horizons and since Boston is a quick flight and easy Amtrak away, I was thinking of visiting. Is it a great trip? What do you recommend that I see?
