There is a magic window between about 18mos and 2 years, when kids are interested in potty stuff, amenable to taking directions, and have the physical maturity to learn to hold it until they get to the potty, pull pants down, etc.

It’s a longer glide path than doing a 48 hour bootcamp with a 4 year old, but soooo much easier without the battle of wills. You do a little bit of diaper-free or underwear time each day, and slowly extend those periods. Both my kids (boys) were clean and dry during the day (including naps) by 2.5; dry at night by 3.

Before disposable diapers 18-24 months was when 90% of kids were trained. Not too early at all, but much more inconvenient as you then have to plan a lot of potty breaks into your daily life.

Probably a little early we trained our son closer to 3 . Our son was a wiggle worm also. We used pampers cruisers 360 slip-on diapers.

I trained my daughters at 20 months. One took to it immediately and the other took 6weeks.

I liked 3 day naked. No pull ups.

I saw the person above say her kid was verbal. My son wasn’t. He quickly figured out a word for potty though and would let us know.

She was quite verbal too which helped.

WAAAAAYYYY too early. Especially for a boy. Can he even talk? Tell you he needs to potty? Pull his pants up and down?

No.

My 17 month old son will not hold still for a diaper change . I'm tired of chasing him around the house . I trained his sister closer to two . It's definitely a workout getting him to hold still . Any ideas to make this easier or should I start training him to go potty ?
