You should have said that in the OP. Residents don’t have as much control of their schedules as attendings and are also the ones who end up with the grunt work. If you do end up dating then you’ll have more of this in your future.

His residency ends in less than month so no I won’t.

One more chance if he really is a resident, but why is he making the date so close to his work time. Twice he had time to meet you. Maybe those times will fit better.
I'd go back to that bar and tell him I'll see him when I see him. I hang in my regular bars a lot. the most fun is going alone and meeting people.

No, I wouldn’t. When a guy is truly interested he makes a huge effort to see you. He is not that interested. I wouldn’t be kept on a back burner.

I use the principle that you make time for people you want in your lives. I would give him a benefit of doubt if he reappeared very actively planning nice dates etc. I dated once a hedge fund manager who indeed was working 24/7 and traveled globally. He had to reschedule me multiple times but then would fly see me.

For me it depends on what his job is and how he handled it.

I’d give him one last chance.

My rule of thumb is if someone cancels, I’ll go out with them if they initiate. The polite thing to do when you cancel is immediately reschedule for a different day.

If he can’t do that, he’s either trying to low key end it, or he’s too busy to date.

No one can decide this but you.
At best, he has a busy job and this is what dating him will look like. You'll always fall second to his job.
At worst, he has other women he's seeing or he's not really interested in you.

Personally, I was never interested in someone who had a career that would be first in their lives.

I met a guy at a bar through a mutual guy friend. We met once again and he chatted me up and asked for my number. He asked me out twice and canceled both times for work reasons. Do I give him more time or tell him I’m not interested?
