Or the ex was hungover on a Saturday morning and the mom, who has full custody, knew it. Look alive ie try not to look like a hungover worthless piece of shit in front of our kids and other parents in our social circle.

There are times when I wished I had the guts to say that to my DH in public. He sits there spaced out like a bump on a log when all of the other dads are socializing and I hate it.

Travel and country club swim events are all weekend to see your kid swim twice for a few minutes. Lots of downtime.

We had a parent like that on a travel team. If the other parent wasn't completely engaged in the game or interacting or as amped as they were, the other spouse was yelling. It was so weird.

No. Just she and the spouse (or ex-spouse) off in the grass about 30 yards away from everyone. She was having a meltdown and he just had a flat affect.

Currently at a large and chaotic weekend swim event. What does "look alive" even mean in this context and how does yelling at your husband within earshot of hundreds of parents improve the situation? She doesn't think her husband was cheering loud enough or something?

After she walked away the husband had that Ben Affleck meme expression, while he hit an e-cigarette, which made me and my husband quietly chuckle, while also feeling bad for him.
