NP from the other DH/verbal abuse thread and thank you for this. I didn’t think about this option and am looking for it in my account right now, but will also email my financial advisor in the morning in case he can help with it.

I have provided a bank letter (which you can generally generate yourself in a brokerage account online) attesting to x thousands of assets in lieu of a paystub.

Otherwise save up in the meantime, if you just want a no-fault willy nilly divorce.

Omg. Your landlord does not care about the pictures of your husband at a Coldplay concert.

Post was talking about the financial end of it.
A rando landlord is not going to rent "on credit"

Marital income is joint property. You bring your tax returns, bank account statements (showing direct deposit) and proof of assets.

My partner's SAH ex wife was able to rent in a nice building based on his income. His income is high enough to make it obvious that her alimony woukd be more than most working people's income. Also, she had about half a million sitting in her personal checking account to use for a large deposit.

For those of you who were stay-at-home parents and left the family home during separation or divorce, how were you able to rent a place without income from a job?

I’ve been a SAHM with a special needs teen and don’t have current income, but I do have assets that would more than cover rent. I’ve also paid our mortgage on time for over 10 years and would be willing to prepay several months’ rent upfront if needed.

Did anyone provide landlords with documentation from their divorce attorney (like a letter outlining the total marital assets or your share)? What worked for you in getting approved?

Thanks in advance. I really appreciate any insights.
