Yeah, I worked in the food industry. Those dates are not precise.

Sell by or best by dates are marketing gimmicks.

Most of that stuff is good for days to weeks after the date. For canned or bottled stuff, it is still good for years and years after the printed dates.

The longer one waits though, the more the taste/color/texture might be off. But still "safe" to eat.

I've bought that before. Cook it in the bag, and if it smells off when you open it, then throw it out. If it smells fine, its fine.
